Falling into the arms of Silence

a deep pool of water
of peace only God can bring
falling into the arms of silence
into God’s waiting presence
quiet, still, knowing
like a comfortable coat
I have forgotten to wear
out in the wind, the cold
but someone I should know
knowing it is there, waiting
peace from the day
from my impossible struggles
giving them more fully to God.
befriending Silence, a place
a destination, a sanctuary,
finding God there
in the stillness, the longing
to answer my prayer.
