the amber light of sunset – v2

the amber light of sunset
falling on the steeple
the brick alive in the dying
of the autumnal light

too soon there will be winter
where so recently summer
but in the in between
we feel God’s sense of wonder

beauty in the dying, the fading
of the light, the tranquil image
our hope within these walls
our prayer for lasting peace

we long in the dying
another day soon dawning
held within the Creator’s hands
the Potter at the wheel

we pray for reconciliation
as we pray for justice
for comity to reign
for Your will to be done
