Whispers of the Martyrs – v3

May the people listen
the leaders, the insurgents
those who stood for justice
who cried out for freedom
the tribes, the bands,
the disparate factions
our leaders in distant lands
may they all slow down
may they all heed these warnings

the whispers of the martyrs
those who died seeking freedom
speaking to them, to us,
to seek forgiveness, not victory,
peace in their land,
that the rebellion, revolution
would build a lasting peace
that they may rest easy
those who died in the streets
