He gathered with his friends
to share the meal together
sharing the Seder in the upper room
remembering the Passover
their people’s ancient story
He gathered with his friends.
He still had much to teach them,
the nature of God’s love,
as they shared the meal together.
He changed the ancient words
speaking a new blood covenant
a new sacrifice making a new people.
