quench the thirst of others – merged

use the gifts you are given,
empty yourselves fully;
so that you may be filled
with the love of God.

quench the thirst of others
the wellspring of living waters;
God’s gift through each of us
to be offered, to be shared.

quench the thirst of suffering
the longing for righteousness;
serve others willingly
wherever you are sent.

quench the thirst of suffering
a balm for their spirits;
offer love freely
pouring out living waters.

quench the thirst of poverty
the longing for safety;
the security of enough
to assuage troubled spirits.

quench the thirst of poverty
the longing for peace;
safe within their being
their knowledge of want.

quench the thirst of oppression
the following after righteousness;
the way of the Savior
loving us all.

quench the thirst of oppression
the longing for justice;
at peace within their spirits
trusting in God above.
