behind their eyes – v2

a presence within them
behind their eyes
in some people
a few I could name

something not right
a spirit within them
not of peace
not of light

smiling eyes, faces,
but darkness inside
in some people
a few on my journey

light not in them
not truly, really,
something tragic
a cancer growing
eating at them
